Dr. Vibha Singhal
Associate Professor of Pediatrics at UCLA and Director of Pediatric Obesity in the Department of Pediatrics at UCLA,
"Reproductive and Next Generation Effects of Obesity Treatments"
Bio: Dr. Singhal is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, Los Angeles, and the Director of pediatric obesity in the department of Pediatrics at UCLA. She is board certified in Obesity Medicine and Pediatric Endocrinology. After finishing her medical school at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, she finished her pediatric residency at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She did her endocrinology training at the Massachusetts General hospital and obtained a master’s in public health from the Harvard School of Public Health. She is a clinician scientist and has co-authored more than 80 original articles and has written many reviews and book chapters.
Clinical Interests: Her immediate goal is to expand the outreach of the FIT for Health clinic, a multidisciplinary obesity management clinic where they have increased capacity to provide pharmacological and surgical treatment for children and adolescents with obesity. The goal is to optimize the delivery of efficient and evidence-based care for this high-risk and marginalized population.
Research Interests: Her previous NIH funded grant evaluated the impact of sleeve gastrectomy on insulin secretion in adolescents in the context of bile acids, microbiome, and metabolomics. Her passion involves improving outcomes of obesity management via personalized obesity treatments. Her current interest is in evaluating the reproductive outcomes and the next generation effects of obesity and obesity treatments.
